Angel Fire Dining

While often referred to as the quintessential small town, Angel Fire boasts some world class eateries that won't break the vacation budget.  Here are some of our favorites:

Shelly's Pub 'n Grub: - Established in 2012, Shelly's has quickly become one of Angel Fire's most popular spots to eat, grab a beer, or just hang out.  It is located just a few blocks from our condo and they feature an eclectic upscale menu in an elegant, yet comfortable irish-pub atmosphere.  The menu changes regularly based on seasonal favorites, but one of there staples is the Pub Burger which you can customize to your liking.  If you are in the mood for a salad, and the "Pub Salad" is on the menu, grab it.  It is out of this world and one of my favorite entrees in Angel Fire.  Throw in 2 dozen, or more, beers on tap (including some outstanding local brews) and you have one of the best places to unwind in the Moreno Valley.  Tell Steve and Shelly we wish we were there.

Hatcha's:
Located on Mountain View Blvd (Main Street, if you will) about a mile north of North Angel Fire Rd, is Hatcha's.  The Hatchas family has been serving up some of the best genuine New Mexican cuisine in the Moreno valley for generations.  After a devastating fire destroyed their Mora, NM restaurant,  the Hatchas' relocated to Angel Fire and forever changed our palates.  As a die hard Tex-Mex fan, I have come to appreciate the authenticity of New Mexican cuisine, and NEVER make a trip to Angel Fire without dining there.  DO NOT MISS, their signature desert Hatchas Desert Nachos- it will change your life!

 Angel Fired Pizza:
Well, you can't actually call yourself a "resort" unless you have pizza, right?!  Fortunately, Angel Fire has a break from the ordinary PapaDomiCeasarHut pies we all have come to...well... tolerate.   Angel Fired Pizza's offers customer pies made from scratch with fresh, local ingredients that helps us realize a deeper appreciation for one of the worlds oldest entrees. Yes, you can order a "pepperoni" pizza from Angel Fired (or "cheese only" if your kids are like mine), but you can also explore bold, new combinations of ingredients for their hand crafted pizza pies.  It is located adjacent to the grocery store at the corner of Mountain View Blvd and N. Angel Fire Rd.  Don't miss it!

Sunset Grill:  Right next to the Chile Express Lift is the Sunset Grill.  It has become an Angel Fire landmark visited by locals, college breakers, and vacationing families alike.  An array of cold brews, a decent wine list, fair menu prices and large portions await your presence.   Add that to some fantastic outdoor seating with some terrific sunset views and you will know why so many enjoy the Sunset Grill.

Other Favorite Stops:

Like Beer??  DON'T MISS Comanche Creek Brewery.  It is located about 5 miles outside of Eagle Nest, NM (about a 20 minute drive from Angel Fire).  Comanche Creek DEFINES MICRObrewery.  Cody brews a small flight of beers from his great-grandfather's homestead in a (very) small authentic 1800's log cabin.  No, really.  I don't know if it his skill brewing, the stunning scenery as you sip, or the seemingly always perfect weather (even in the winter), or a combination of all, but you can taste all of the love, history, and ambiance in every glass.  They are open Wednesday through Saturday, and you can usually catch some live music there on Friday and Saturday nights.  Simply...and I mean SIMPLY, awesome, and a DON'T miss spot.
